Paul Browning
Specialist MSK and Sports Physiotherapist
Paul originally undertook degrees in Chemistry at Leeds University and then Biochemistry at Salford University and then because of his interest in physical health, trained in Physiotherapy at Leeds School of Physiotherapy, graduating in 1990. Due to his background in biochemistry Paul quickly developed an interest in pain.
Paul then trained in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with the International Acupuncture Society and became an advanced member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). He subsequently underwent training for membership of the musculoskeletal association of chartered physiotherapists (MACP), gaining a distinction in his final examination.
Paul initially worked in the NHS, then spent a year teaching physiotherapy at the University of Brighton before moving into private practice in London at Physioworks (Mayfair). Here, Paul further developed his specialism in spinal and nerve related problems as well as treating West End and professional contemporary dancers. During this time Paul further developed his work in muscle stability and movement control and worked as an assistant tutor with the Kinetic Control group.
Paul returned to the NHS as a Superintendent/Spinal Clinical Specialist for a period of time before returning again to academia at the University of Hertfordshire, teaching on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, leading pain teaching and supervising research with a number of resulting publications.
In 2015 Paul left the University returning to clinical practice working as a First Contact Practitioner / Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in GP practices in the Fleet area. Then in 2020 Paul returned to private practice and has developed the use of acupuncture treatment for long covid whilst continuing his musculoskeletal practice for spinal and pain problems, plus upper and lower limb conditions, achieving consistently good outcomes for his patients.
Paul has a wide range of interests, having practised and taught for several years t’ai chi and self-defence in the past and also enjoys Cuban salsa and bachata dancing, combining his liking for Latin music and movement.
Paul is a full member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP), the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and is registered with the Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC)
